“In the Park Street case registered against Khan, whom we have arrested from Ghaziabad, Kolkata Police has frozen cryptocurrency wallet, maintained with Binance platform after taking court order,” said a senior officer.
Cops said that the crypto money mainly had proceeds of profits made through E-Nugget. “He had changed this money in to cryptocurrency during pandemic. He had used five of his accounts for these conversions even as he acted as the introducer in 147 accounts using fake KYCs. But, there is a possibility that it might have been proceeds from two other apps that Khan had created when the bank moved court and lodged an FIR against him,” said police.
Police said they had initially frozen Khan’s accounts and then moved court seeking a permanent freeze. “The order was passed on Tuesday. The onus is now on the accused to absolve himself of these charges,” said an officer. Khan’s lawyers have denied all claims so far and appealed for bail when he was produced in court.
