Elkin Roots Music Festival slated for June 24 and 25 at The Reeves Theater.
The Elkin Roots Music Festival is slated for this weekend with performances Friday and Saturday at the Reeves Theater featuring Darin and Brooke Aldridge, DaShawn and Wendy Hickman, Caleb Caudle, Wanda Johnson, Big Ron Hunter, The Reeves House Band, and more.
The Elkin Roots Music Festival was created by The Elkin Valley Fiddlers which formed as a group in 2012. The first gathering was held beside the Yadkin River in Crater Park.
“We invited several bands to come play for recreation on a Saturday afternoon. It was a chilly and wet April day, but in spite of the weather, the musicians and their fans had a great time, and the Roots Music Fest was born,” organizers explained.
Since then the event has expanded to include local and regional musicians and new genres. The festival has been held in a variety of locations in Elkin including Elkin Municipal Park, the Foothills Arts Council garden and in 2018 it moved to the Reeves Theater.
The festival begins with performances by Darin and Brooke Aldridge and Caleb Caudle at 7 p.m. on Friday. Saturday at 7 p.m. is the Big Blues Night featuring DaShawn and Wendy Hickman present: Sacred Steel, Wanda Johnson, Big Ron Hunter and The Reeves House band.
Single night passes for Friday or Saturday are available for $25-$25, two-night passes are $40-$60. For tickets visit reevestheater.com or call 336-258-8240.
The Reeves Theater and Cafe is located at 129 W. Main Street in downtown Elkin.
