A leading blockchain-based travel booking platform Travala.com has announced the inclusion of meme coin Shiba Inu in its payment system. Interested users can now buy over 3 million travel products worldwide on the website using Shib cryptocurrencies. These products include flights, hotels, and travel packages. Travala website founded in 2017 announced on December 7 that it has added Shiba Inu as a payment method.
The website had set up a token battle on Twitter between Floki meme coin and Shiba Inu on December 2 to decide the winner after 72 hours of voting, reported Bitcoin.com. The coin with the maximum votes was to be listed on Travala.com. Shiba Inu earned maximum votes and has now been included on the Travala.com, where 77 cryptocurrencies including Dogecoin are already allowed in its payment system.
Travala.com was founded by a group of experienced travelers, blockchain and fintech experts with a vision to align travel booking with decentralized technology. The traveling website claims to offer accessibility to everyone with peer-to-peer transactions and build open-source technology controlled by software and governed by users. The website reported to have been paid in cryptocurrencies for 82 percent bookings. It also has its native cryptocurrency AVA, which can be used for payments, receiving and redeeming loyalty rewards and refunds.
Recently, Shiba Inu has been adopted as a means of payment and was recently accepted in the payment system by AMC theaters in November to be used from the first quarter of 2022. Besides Newegg, a California-based electronics seller announced to accept the coin from December. Crypto exchanges Kraken and Gemini also added Shiba Inu tokens for trading on November 30 and November 12 respectively.
