I knew how wasteful it was,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/02\/12\/23-year-old-texans-made-4-million-mining-bitcoin-off-flared-natural-gas.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Whitehead told CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a new way to not only lower emissions but to monetize gas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oil drillers frequently find natural gas, but are forced to burn it off because the discovery location is often too far from pipelines needed to distribute and sell.<\/p>\n<p>Giga Energy Solutions transports shipping containers with bitcoin-mining computers to oil wells.
