{"id":39439,"date":"2022-12-27T21:41:01","date_gmt":"2022-12-27T21:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=39439"},"modified":"2022-12-27T21:41:01","modified_gmt":"2022-12-27T21:41:01","slug":"if-you-have-gold-youre-dumb-as-fuck-just-get-bitcoin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=39439","title":{"rendered":"\u2018If you have gold, you\u2019re dumb as fuck&#8230; Just get Bitcoin.\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjItMTIvM2E0YjgyNjctN2E3Yi00Y2ZiLWE5Y2UtODBjZTQ3ZWZjZjI4LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-v-71d2d00b=\"\">\n<p>Arguments over whether gold or Bitcoin (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a>) is a better store of value continue to occur across the cryptocurrency space and in traditional investment circles.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest episode of Bill Maher\u2019s <em>Club Random <\/em>podcast, which aired on Dec. 26, billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Cuban advocated for Bitcoin being a better store of value than gold.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In response to Maher openly admitting that he is \u201crooting against Bitcoin,\u201d Cuban chimed in with a cheeky agreement saying, \u201cI want Bitcoin to go down a lot further so that I can buy some more.\u201d\u00a0Cuban went on to offer some friendly chastisement to Maher, saying, \u201cIf you have gold, you\u2019re dumb as fuck,\u201d before encouraging him to \u201cjust get Bitcoin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Cuban | Club Random with Bill Maher\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v6veLM-T6ZE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p> The two went on to discuss the pros and cons of both asset categories, with the billionaire stating that gold \u201cis not a hedge against anything,&#8221; while hammering home to Maher, \u201cyou don\u2019t own the physical gold, do you?\u201d Speaking to Cointelegraph, Cuban confirmed he does indeed own more Bitcoin than gold, even going a step further to admit, &#8220;Yes. I don&#8217;t own any gold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, while Cuban noted to Cointelegraph that he personally chooses to self-custody his assets, he disagreed with the idea that people who do not hold their own coins or gold are necessarily asking for trouble. When it comes to safely storing assets of value, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It depends on where. If the custody host lends out the gold or crypto for any reason, then there is significantly more risk.
