Litecoin (LTC)<\/a> is a cryptocurrency that launched shortly after bitcoin<\/a>. The \u201cgold standard\u201d of crypto \u2014 bitcoin \u2014 was revealed to the world in 2009, while litecoin followed on its heels in 2011. And, more importantly, what is litecoin\u2019s price prediction? What will litecoin be worth in 2022 and beyond?<\/p>\n Litecoin is one of just four cryptocurrencies that users can buy and sell on the payment platform Venmo<\/a>, along with bitcoin, ethereum<\/a> and bitcoin cash. To trade most cryptocurrencies, users must open an account on a crypto exchange like Coinbase<\/a>, Gemini<\/a>, eToro<\/a> or Kraken<\/a>, which were all rated by GOBankingRates in the top eight cryptocurrency apps<\/a>. You can also trade litecoin on any of these exchanges.<\/p>\n Like other cryptocurrencies, you can invest in litecoin. You can also mine litecoin<\/a>, which means that you verify transactions to help the blockchain<\/a> run quickly and efficiently, earning coins in exchange for the computer processing power you provide.<\/p>\n Litecoin processes transactions faster than bitcoin, which makes it viable as a common medium for daily transactions.\u00a0It also has a larger circulating supply, which is helping in its widespread adoption but also keeping its value lower than bitcoin\u2019s. The more coins that are in circulation for any currency<\/a>, the lower the value is likely to be because there are more to go around.<\/p>\n The maximum circulating supply of litecoin is 84 million coins, while bitcoin has a maximum of just 21 million coins.<\/p>\n Litecoin was developed off a fork in the bitcoin blockchain<\/a>. Since cryptocurrency was originally developed as an alternate payment method, litecoin developers were hoping to further democratize crypto mining, taking it out of the hands of larger enterprises to disburse the wealth.<\/p>\n Litecoin failed at keeping away enterprise miners, but it succeeded in becoming a widely recognized and respected alt-coin<\/a>. Founder Charlie Lee, a former Google<\/a> engineer, first released 150 pre-mined litecoins to the world in 2011. In October 2022, fewer than 9 million of litecoin\u2019s 84 million coin supply are left to mine.<\/p>\n The blockchain was designed so that as the supply diminishes, new coins will be created more slowly to preserve litecoin\u2019s value. The rewards for creating new blocks are halved<\/a> as time goes on. By 2023, miners will earn just 6.25 LTC per verified transaction, compared to 50 LTC when litecoin launched and 12.5 LTC in 2022.<\/p>\n This knowledge of halving and the coin\u2019s supply still leaves questions unanswered. For starters, what will litecoin be worth by the end of 2022?<\/p>\n On Nov. 16, litecoin is worth $57.53 per coin. The coin, like many cryptocurrencies, has been affected by the overall crypto market downturn<\/a> and is down 75% in the past year and 61% year to date.<\/p>\n In comparison, bitcoin is down about 73% over the past year and 65% year to date. <\/p>\n Litecoin started its life worth about $3 per coin and eventually gained 140% of its value by 2020. At the end of 2021, LTC closed at $146.51, nearly three times the value it holds in November 2022. But this can hardly be considered a downtick specific to litecoin, because the entire crypto market<\/a> has fallen in 2022.<\/p>\n Overall, litecoin\u2019s widespread acceptance \u2014 particularly for small, peer-to-peer<\/a> transactions \u2014 along with expected integrations and partnerships, bode well for the coin. Developer Charlie Lee recently introduced confidential transactions, making litecoin even more enticing to consumers and, as a result, investors.<\/p>\n Changelly predicts that litecoin is set to rise for the remainder of 2022. The site pegs its average predicted cost at around $60.37 at the end of the year, with a minimum cost of $57.55 and a maximum of $63.25 possible. And Changelly is just one of the sites bullish<\/a> about litecoin\u2019s future.<\/p>\n Coin Price Forecast predicts litecoin will reach $62.67 by the end of the year.<\/p>\n On the other hand, LongForecast.com<\/span> <\/span>doesn\u2019t have such a good short-term forecast for litecoin. The site\u2019s litecoin price prediction is that litecoin will finish the year selling at $39.40.<\/p>\n Sites differ more on their 2023 predictions than on predictions for 2022.<\/p>\n Changelly\u2019s average forecast is $87.72 in a range of $85.30 to $103.16.<\/p>\n Coin Price Forecast is more bearish, predicting that litecoin will reach $56.06 by mid-year but drop to $49.04 by year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n LongForecast.com gives the most pessimistic outlook, predicting that litecoin will close 2023 at just $21.10.<\/p>\n Skipping ahead to 2025, most analysts predict that litecoin will have a bright future<\/a>. Changelly predicts that litecoin could go as high as $214.08, with a minimum of $182.44.<\/p>\n Coin Price Forecast is also bullish<\/a>, indicating that the coin\u2019s value will rise through 2025, reaching $78.30 by the end of the year.<\/p>\n LongForecast.com, on the other hand, predicts that LTC could lose over 46% by the end of 2025, eventually settling in at $29.30.<\/p>\n The major forecasters show LTC following a positive trajectory over the next five years. It could reach $91.10 according to Coin Price Forecast.<\/p>\n Changelly has a highly optimistic view, predicting litecoin to reach an average of $406.43 five years from now, with a possible high of $473.91.<\/p>\n Again, LongForecast.com is bearish<\/a> on the coin, thinking it could drop as low as $22.10 in December 2026, the last month and year for which the site has published a litecoin price prediction.<\/p>\n It is difficult to look 10 years out with any cryptocurrency predictions<\/a>. It\u2019s important to note that litecoin is a highly volatile, speculative investment just like any alt-coin and even bitcoin. LongForecast.com, which sees litecoin ultimately crashing, could be right.<\/p>\n But the majority of expert analysts see litecoin steadily climbing over the next decade.<\/p>\n Again, Changelly has the most aggressively optimistic predictions. The blog forecasts litecoin hitting a maximum price of $1,995.34 by 2031. That means if you invested just $100 in LTC in mid-November 2022 at the price of $57.53, you would have $3,471.89 by 2031.<\/p>\n Coin Price Forecast predicts that LTC will reach $167.22 by 2033.<\/p>\n If you trust most of the experts, litecoin does, indeed, have a good future in the crypto market. Although it is not within the top 10 most popular or most-traded cryptocurrencies<\/a>, it is widely accepted and easy to trade.<\/p>\n It has a market cap of roughly $4.12 billion in mid-November 2022, and it ranks No. 17 based on market cap<\/a> compared to all cryptocurrencies traded today.<\/p>\n But is litecoin the next bitcoin? The answer is probably not. No alt-coins have approached bitcoin\u2019s influence in the crypto world. At its highest, litecoin was trading at $414 in May 2021. This doesn\u2019t even come close to bitcoin\u2019s all-time high of nearly $69,000 in December 2021.<\/p>\n And, as the crypto market plummets of late, with bitcoin down about 76% from its all-time high, LTC has fallen, too.<\/p>\n That doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s a bad long-term investment<\/a>, though. The company that runs the blockchain has strong fundamentals, a solid reputation and a useful offering with a network that provides security, accessibility for smaller miners and fast transaction speeds.<\/p>\n If you believe most of the experts that litecoin is set to rise over the next decade, you\u2019ll want to get in while it\u2019s several hundred dollars away from its historic high. However, future gains aren\u2019t guaranteed, and you should never invest more than you can afford to lose in any deal, whether you are investing in cryptocurrency or meme stocks<\/a> or anything else<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you are prepared to buy and hold litecoin for the long haul, you could stand to gain a lot of money from a small investment. But keep in mind that the crypto market has lost much of its value<\/a> this year, and litecoin is among the coins that have dropped in value<\/a>.<\/p>\n Market downturns are often the perfect time to invest, when you can buy crypto or stocks you believe in<\/a> at a lower price. But you must be willing to hold through the dark times to realize potential profits in the end. And then, of course, it\u2019s a risky trick to try to gauge the high point \u2014 or at least a point that\u2019s high enough for you \u2014 to cash out on your investment.<\/p>\n If you\u2019d like to invest in bitcoin but don\u2019t have enough cash to make a difference considering the price of the coin, litecoin can be a good alternative for investing in cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re looking to buy litecoin, you can do so easily using your Venmo balance or with the balance in your bank account tied to Venmo.
