Known as the \u201cOracle of Omaha\u201d and by other nicknames, legendary investor Warren Buffett<\/strong> is a man of many names. Buffett also gives out nicknames from time to time, including calling leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin <\/strong>BTC\/USD<\/span> \u201crat poison squared.\u201d<\/p>\n Here’s how Buffett might be more invested in cryptocurrency than he knows.<\/p>\n Buffett’s Bitcoin Ties: <\/strong>Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway Inc <\/strong>(NYSE: BRK-A<\/a>) (NYSE: BRK-B<\/a>) invested $500 million <\/a>in Brazilian digital bank Nubank. The digital bank went public in December 2021 as Nu Holdings <\/strong>NU<\/span>\u00a0and Buffett invested additional capital<\/a> in the company.<\/p>\n Now with an investment of more than\u00a0$1 billion in Nu Holdings, Buffett could be more exposed to the growth of the cryptocurrency market than he knows or would probably like to be.<\/p>\n Nu Holdings unit Nubank is launching <\/a>its own cryptocurrency through a partnership with Polygon <\/strong><\/a>MATIC\/USD<\/span> to power its loyalty and rewards for customers.<\/p>\n Nubank plans to launch its own token called Nucoin in the first half of 2023, which will be delivered free to customers and will be the kick-off of a new \u201cgroundbreaking rewards program.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are opening a door to the future. Nucoin is a new way to recognize customer loyalty and foster further engagement with Nubank products,\u201d Nucoin General Manager Fernando Czapski<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n Nubank has over 70 million customers in Brazil and other Latin American countries. The plan is to offer customers discounts and perks available by spending Nucoins.<\/p>\n Benzinga reported in May 2022 <\/a>that Nu Holdings was launching cryptocurrency trading for Bitcoin and Ethereum<\/strong> ETH\/USD<\/span> and adding Bitcoin to its balance sheet.<\/p>\n Czapski said this another step ahead for the company\u2019s push in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal<\/strong> praised the move.<\/p>\n \u201cThe fact that one of the largest digital banking institutions in the world is offering its own cryptocurrency is a strong testament to the utility that blockchain and crypto have to offer,\u201d Nailwal said.<\/p>\n Related Link: How To Buy Bitcoin\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Why It\u2019s Important For Warren:\u00a0<\/strong>Buffett has been one of the biggest opponents of Bitcoin and the rise of cryptocurrencies. Buffett was even labeled enemy number<\/a> one of Bitcoin by Peter Thiel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Buffett said he wouldn\u2019t buy Bitcoin even if it dropped to $25.<\/p>\n Buffett has been a proponent of investing in value companies and also investing in what you know. Buffett often supports the companies that he invests in, whether its by drinking pop from Coca-Cola<\/strong> KO<\/span> or switching from a flip phone to an iPhone from Apple Inc <\/strong>AAPL<\/span>.<\/p>\n The legendary investor invests in companies <\/a>he believe have a strong feature and have products that consumers want and need.<\/p>\n Buffett could have direct and indirect exposure to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which means when he is talking negatively about Bitcoin he is speaking against a growth area of at least one of hist investments.<\/p>\n Berkshire Hathaway also owns a stake in Visa Inc <\/strong>V<\/span>, which gives Buffett partial ownership<\/a> of a CryptoPunk <\/strong>NFT.<\/p>\n Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt<\/strong> celebrated the partnership and also mentioned Buffett.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are excited for this partnership with Nubank and yet another big company building on Polygon!
