Why It Matters:<\/strong> Bitcoin<\/strong> and Ethereum<\/strong> rose as did U.S. stock futures at the time of writing, ahead of a fresh trading week.<\/p>\n

The coming week will be littered with earnings from corporate America, which is grappling with record inflation and fears of a looming recession.<\/p>\n

OANDA senior market analyst Edward Moya<\/strong> said in a recent note, seen by Benzinga, that Bitcoin held up nicely amid the recent turmoil seen on Wall Street.<\/p>\n

\u201cRisk aversion is running wild and Bitcoin is not breaking. Fed rate hike expectations are rising and Bitcoin is still holding onto the $19,000 level,\u201d said Moya.<\/p>\n

Moya pointed out that Bitcoin\u2019s stabilization period is \u201cgood news\u201d for long-term bulls. \u201cThe high-frequency trading systems and hedge funds have their preferred shorts and right now it seems Bitcoin is becoming a long-term bet for many.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf US stocks tumble below the 3,600 level this earnings season and Bitcoin does not break below the summer lows, the crypto winter can officially be called over,\u201d said the analyst.<\/p>\n

Alternative.me\u2019s \u201cCrypto Fear & Greed Index\u201d indicated \u201cExtreme Fear\u201d going ahead into the fresh trading week. The index registered 20 at the time of writing, while last week it was at 22. A value of 0 means \u201cExtreme Fear,\u201d while 100 represents \u201cExtreme Greed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Micha\u00ebl van de Poppe<\/strong> tweeted a \u201cbig week coming up.\u201d The Amsterdam-based cryptocurrency trader said that markets and technical analysis show a \u201cbig move is about to take place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Van De Poppe said that Bitcoin is \u201csqueezing\u201d and ready for a \u201cbreakout\u201d above $19,600 level.<\/p>\n

\nAn analyst on CryptoQuant said that funding rates\u00a0 \u2014 periodic payments between traders to make perpetual futures contract price closer to the index price \u2014 have turned negative once again as the price of Bitcoin has fallen from the $22,000 levels to $19,000.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The analyst on the community-driven analytics platform pointed out that the metric\u2019s values are \u201csignificantly low\u201d compared to the 2019-2021 period, indicating a \u201cmassive lack of demand and activity in the futures market.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funding rate \u201cshould be watched closely in the short term as possible extreme negative values increase the probability of a short-squeeze and could cause a reversal in the cryptocurrency\u2019s price,\u201d the analyst said.<\/p>\n

On the Ethereum side, shark and whale addresses holding 100 to 1 million ETH have dropped 3.3 million ETH in the past weeks, tweeted Santiment<\/strong>. The market intelligence platform said this equals nearly $4.2 billion in \u201cdumped coins.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u200b\u200bThe asset’s price vs. [Bitcoin] has ebbed and flowed based on [the] behavior of these key stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n
