And while things have been running smoothly, not everyone is impressed by the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Cardano founder and CEO Charles Hoskinson is among them, telling TechCrunch he didn\u2019t expect Ethereum\u2019s design of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) to be \u201cas rough as it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the Merge, some crypto community members raised concerns about the PoS method, noting it felt more centralized than decentralized given that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/09\/14\/lido-coinbase-kraken-and-binance-stake-majority-of-eth-does-that-matter\/\" rel=\"noopener\">four major crypto entities<\/a> control over half of all staked ETH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 42% of the blocks after the Merge are held by two actors [Lido and Coinbase] and they\u2019re indefinitely locked in Proof of Stake,\u201d Hoskinson said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Hoskinson <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IOHK_Charles\/status\/1570879345371279361?s=20&amp;t=Bv_Oklkax8NYNGbiZoNTGw\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cEthereum is becoming the Hotel California of Crypto.\u201d He said he still holds the view that the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap is like the hotel in the classic Eagles song.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEthereum has become the Hotel California of cryptocurrency. You can check in but you can\u2019t check out and that\u2019s just nuts because Cardano doesn\u2019t have that,\u201d Hoskinson said, nodding to his own blockchain. \u201cAbout 74% of Cardano is staked but it\u2019s liquid \u2014 you can move it any time you want.
