{"id":27784,"date":"2022-09-02T05:32:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-02T05:32:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=27784"},"modified":"2022-09-02T05:32:23","modified_gmt":"2022-09-02T05:32:23","slug":"former-blockchain-skeptic-david-rubenstein-discloses-investments-in-crypto-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=27784","title":{"rendered":"Former blockchain skeptic David Rubenstein discloses investments in crypto companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS9zdG9yYWdlL3VwbG9hZHMvdmlldy85M2MyOTM1MjMzZWI4ZDlhZGFiYzJlODZmOWM0Y2Y5ZC5qcGc=.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-v-3511d6da=\"\">\n<p>Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein acknowledged on Sept. 2 that he has invested personally in a number of crypto companies, and is optimistic about the industry\u2019s path to regulation in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with CNBC&#8217;S Squawk Box on Thursday, the billionaire said he\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SquawkCNBC\/status\/1565387256613011465\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">believes<\/a>\u00a0that government regulation will be positive for the industry, and that the U.S. Congress will tak a collaborative approach to boost an innovation environment in the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The crypto constituency is very strong in congress [and] they tend to be very Republican [or] very libertarian,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;The industry is not likely to be soft when dealing with members of Congress.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Previously skeptical about cryptocurrencies, Rubenstein\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.joincolossus.com\/episodes\/77502018\/rubenstein-life-leadership-and-lbos?tab=transcript\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">reportedly<\/a>\u00a0changed his mind months ago. He told the Colossus&#8217; podcast, \u201cI have not bought cryptocurrencies, but I have bought companies that service the industry because I think the genie is out of the bottle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rubenstein reiterated his new perspective on Thursday, saying: &#8220;some of the blockchain related investments and things associated with crypto are likely to be with us for some time.&#8221; He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Young people tend to have the intelligence and energy to kind of get trends started.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In December 2020, blockchain infrastructure provider Paxos raised $142 million in Series C funding led by Declaration Partners, an investment adviser to Rubenstein&#8217;s family office.<\/p>\n<p>Rubenstein co-founded the Carlyle Group in 1987. The private equity firm has $167 billion in assets under management and over 270 active companies in its portfolio.
