{"id":2724,"date":"2021-12-24T15:13:19","date_gmt":"2021-12-24T15:13:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=2724"},"modified":"2021-12-24T15:13:19","modified_gmt":"2021-12-24T15:13:19","slug":"turkeys-cryptocurrency-law-soon-to-be-debated-in-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=2724","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Turkey\u2019s cryptocurrency law soon to be debated in Parliament\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Turkey will soon take steps regarding cryptocurrencies, which have become an issue of concern for many governments and central banks.<\/p>\n<p>A law on cryptocurrencies is ready and will soon be discussed at the national assembly, President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan said Friday during a meeting with the press in Istanbul where <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/business\/economy\/results-of-new-economic-path-to-be-observed-by-summer-erdogan\" rel=\"noopener\">he also made statements on Turkey\u2019s new economy model and finance model.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The country has already been accelerating its work on regulations for the digital tokens\u2019 market, particularly after two cryptocurrency exchanges collapsed in April.<\/p>\n<p>The government is looking to establish a central custodian bank to eliminate counterparty risk, a Bloomberg report said at the time, citing a senior official familiar with the plans.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/business\/finance\/collapses-of-exchanges-vs-turkish-crypto-boom\" rel=\"noopener\">collapse of Thodex and Vebitcoin<\/a>, among the country\u2019s largest trading platforms, dealt a major blow to hundreds of thousands of Turkish cryptocurrency investors, who were unable to access millions of dollars\u2019 worth of digital assets after the exchanges went down.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are also said to be pondering a capital threshold for exchanges and education requirements for executives at such firms, the official told Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p>The already growing crypto boom in Turkey further gained pace throughout the year as investors joined a global rally in Bitcoin, hoping to gain from the cryptocurrency\u2019s rise to shelter against inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Governor \u015eahap Kavc\u0131o\u011flu also said previously the Treasury and Finance Ministry is working on wider regulations regarding cryptocurrencies, adding that the bank does not intend to ban them.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-newsletter-img\">\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.hizliresim.com\/JN9LXf.png\" alt=\"\" \/>\n                <\/div>\n<p>\n                    The Daily Sabah Newsletter\n                <\/p>\n<p>\n                    Keep up to date with what\u2019s happening in Turkey,<br \/>\n                    it\u2019s region and the world.\n                <\/p>\n<p>                    <button class=\"article-newsletter-button\">SIGN ME UP<\/button>\n                <\/p>\n<p>\n                    You can unsubscribe at any time.
