{"id":26431,"date":"2022-08-19T13:24:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T13:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=26431"},"modified":"2022-08-19T13:24:24","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T13:24:24","slug":"weak-address-growth-points-to-bitcoin-price-failing-to-sustain-25k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=26431","title":{"rendered":"Weak address growth points to Bitcoin price failing to sustain $25K"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-v-28d77a7a=\"\">\n<p>Bitcoin (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/bitcoin-price\" rel=\"noopener\">BTC<\/a>) is staging a repeat of price action from May with its latest drop, the latest data shows.<\/p>\n<p>As the dust settles on a 6% comedown for BTC\/USD, analysis argues that its trip to $25,000 was never meant to last.<\/p>\n<h2>Realized price comes back to haunt the BTC chart<\/h2>\n<p>After taking some by surprise with its magnitude, the latest snap losses for BTC price action are still playing out.<\/p>\n<p>After falling from $23,800 to as low as $21,400 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-very-bearish-below-22-5k-says-trader-as-btc-price-dives-6\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-very-bearish-below-22-5k-says-trader-as-btc-price-dives-6\/amp\" rel=\"noopener\">in a single hour<\/a>, the largest cryptocurrency is now attempting to establish support near its <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/studio.glassnode.com\/metrics?a=BTC&amp;category=&amp;m=market.PriceRealizedUsd&amp;s=1628530878&amp;u=1660867200&amp;zoom=\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">realized price<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>At just below $22,000, realized price refers to the sum total at which the entire BTC supply last moved. <\/p>\n<p>The setup will be more than familiar to many market participants, as realized price formed an initial support line during Bitcoin\u2019s descent in May, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-kisses-24k-realized-price-after-2nd-highest-realized-losses-in-history\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-kisses-24k-realized-price-after-2nd-highest-realized-losses-in-history\/amp\" rel=\"noopener\">immediately following<\/a> the Terra LUNA blowout.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-08\/d8ca1b59-f4f7-48ee-bab9-66fd4553d89b.png\" \/><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Bitcoin realized price chart. Source: Glassnode<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With history rhyming \u2014 at least on the chart \u2014 it remains to be seen whether other recent points of interest will continue to play their role. <\/p>\n<p>Among them is the 200-week moving average (MA), a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/btc-price-battles-200-week-moving-average-after-930m-tesla-bitcoin-sale\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/btc-price-battles-200-week-moving-average-after-930m-tesla-bitcoin-sale\/amp\" rel=\"noopener\">hard-won support level<\/a> in July now seemingly lost in one fell swoop.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-day MA, cleared in late July, is now also back above spot price at $22,260.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">#Bitcoin<\/a> made a nice relief rally in the past 2 weeks, but the bearish <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RSI?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">#RSI<\/a> divergence has always been in the background.<\/p>\n<p>$22k was June high and now the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/50DMA?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">#50DMA<\/a>, which seems to hold as support so far<\/p>\n<p>If <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BTC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">#BTC<\/a> breaks below $22k again, I think it&#8217;s likely we see the $18k low again. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0xwArqUcUN\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/0xwArqUcUN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 venturef\u25ceund\u039er (@venturefounder) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/venturefounder\/status\/1560444526518476806?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">August 19, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Going into the Wall Street open, United States equities futures showed that more downside was to come, implying more pressure on crypto markets.<\/p>\n<h2>Active addresses fail to support breakout<\/h2>\n<p>A look at network activity growth during the August run to over $25,000 meanwhile produced bearish conclusions for analyst Philip Swift.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-liveliness-lowest-since-2021-amid-new-5-year-btc-hodl-record\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-liveliness-lowest-since-2021-amid-new-5-year-btc-hodl-record\/amp\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin &#8216;liveliness&#8217; lowest since 2021 amid new 5-year BTC hodl record<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PositiveCrypto\/status\/1560533235028860928\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">fresh tweet<\/a> on the day, the creator of analytics resource Look Into Bitcoin noted that address growth had not matched similar price appreciation phases this time around.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;AASI (Active Address Sentiment Indicator) has been indicating that the current price move has not been supported by a sufficient increase in active addresses on the Bitcoin network,&#8221; he summarized.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Experienced local highs when this has happened previously.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2022-08\/23ab8e3c-bfee-4479-8b1a-f830ecb1ace5.png\" \/><figcaption style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Bitcoin AASI (Active Address Sentiment Indicator) annotated chart.
