This week\u2019s guest on the <\/span>Cardano SPO Column <\/b>is a stake pool <\/span>operated by Jochen who is working on several projects in the ecosystem and whose mission is to plant trees: <\/b>Cardano Blockhouse [CBH]<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Last week\u2019s guest<\/span><\/a> was a <\/span>stake pool that is working on ALDEA, a DAO for Spanish speakers<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n This initiative is a point of reference for everything Cardano and every week or two we will invite a <\/span>Stake Pool Operator <\/b>(SPO) to answer some questions and give us an <\/span>update directly from within the Cardano community<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space<\/span>, <\/b>we will have a <\/span>mix of simple and technical questions<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Hi Patryk, thanks for this opportunity to<\/span> introduce myself and my pool CBH!<\/b> It is great to have a platform like this to<\/span> let people know more about pools with potential to grow<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n My name is <\/span>Jochen and I\u2019m living in the south of Germany<\/b>. I\u2019m working as an<\/span> IT freelancer<\/b> in my normal life handling lots of customer data every day. My <\/span>background is computer science <\/b>which I studied years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n I got into crypto back in the year 2019<\/b>. A colleague of mine convinced me that it is a good idea to invest in it. I bought my first bag of BTC and ETH. About one year later<\/span> I became aware of Cardano and knew right away that the tech and the vision behind this blockchain is great<\/b>. It took me only another month to make the decision to start my own pool as I am an IT guy. <\/span>Contributing to the decentralisation of the Cardano blockchain by running a secure, stable and reliable staking pool <\/b>using dedicated high end-hardware was the way to go for me. Another important point for me was selecting a datacenter which uses renewable energy.<\/span><\/p>\n But I soon realised that <\/span>running a stake pool is not enough to be successful and to attract delegators. Marketing is the most important thing<\/b> and as you can imagine this was worse for me as an IT guy. But anyway I got used to it and <\/span>my pool is growing slowly but steadily.<\/b><\/p>\n Tim Br\u00fcckmann from IAMX asked me to join their team<\/b> at the end of last year. I started to build the <\/span>delegation center<\/span><\/a> because there was a need to <\/span>distribute the IAMX tokens to the delegators of the IAMX pools<\/b>.This application went live in February and until now about 1400 transactions have been made by it.<\/span> Users can view their current rewards and claim their tokens<\/b> any time they want.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Furthermore,<\/span> the core elements of this delegation center have been reused and customised by me to be also used for the Mandala Metaverse<\/b>. Cardano Blockhouse is also part of the Mandala Metaverse and a Turtle clan pool.<\/span><\/p>\n About 1 month ago I started to code a <\/span>collectors portal<\/span><\/a> as I\u2019m a <\/span>big fan of the Teddy Troops CNFTs<\/b> and deeply involved in their community. Teddy holders can connect their wallets to show all Teddy Troops NFTs they have in their wallets. In addition to this list of NFTs, <\/span>all traits are analysed and the user will see which traits he has in the collection<\/b> and which not.<\/span><\/p>\n For sure there will be <\/span>other new applications I\u2019ll build.<\/b><\/p>\n We have to <\/span>reduce our CO2 footprint as our actions leave traces on our planet<\/b>. Our worldwide trees are one of the most important parts of the global carbon cycle. They are <\/span>absorbing carbon dioxide by photosynthesis<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was very important for me to<\/span> find a mission for my pool so that I could give something back to nature<\/b>. The mission of Cardano Blockhouse is therefore<\/span> reforestation<\/b> and I\u2019m <\/span>using a part of my pool profits to plant trees worldwide<\/b> through the German organisation <\/span>primaklima.org<\/span><\/a>. Until now 210 trees have been planted by me and hopefully there will be many more in the future.<\/span> This will for sure be a lot easier if my pool grows and will mint blocks more often<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n I\u2019ve also joined the <\/span>Climate Neutral Cardano <\/b>alliance recently as this is a perfect fit to my pool\u2019s mission.<\/span><\/p>\n It would make me happy if more delegators would support smaller pools <\/b>and would not hunt for the highest rewards. On a yearly time frame the rewards are mostly equal if you delegate to a small pool or a big pool. <\/span>The decentralisation of the Cardano blockchain is the most important part to secure the network<\/b>. It makes me sad to see lots of pools retiring every epoch.
