(WBOY) \u2013 The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly \u201cBusiness at Breakfast\u201d event early Friday morning, where they had guest speakers talk about cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>According to Oxford Dictionary, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com\/us\/definition\/english\/cryptocurrency?q=cryptocurrency\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com\/us\/definition\/english\/cryptocurrency?q=cryptocurrency\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cryptocurrency<\/a> is described as \u201cany system of electronic money, used for buying and selling online and without the need for a central bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cBusiness at Breakfast\u201d series is something that the commerce has been doing for some years now. Every month, they bring in guest speakers to talk about different topics. Friday\u2019s guest speakers informed members on cryptocurrency. Two MVB Edge Ventures employees joined the breakfast to explain to members the ins and outs of cryptocurrency and why it is becoming so prevalent.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nlp-ignore-block article-content rich-text\">\n<aside class=\"promo-link\">\n\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wboy.com\/news\/national\/explainer-how-cryptocurrencies-work-and-how-they-dont\/?ipid=CryptoWhat?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tEXPLAINER: How cryptocurrencies work (and how they don\u2019t)\t<\/a><br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p>Chamber of Commerce President, Kathy Wagner, wants the series to be on topics that are of current interest. The cryptocurrency topic was brought up by multiple members of the commerce because they had a ton of questions. Even if the event brought up even more questions, it did start the conversation on digital currency in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison County\u2019s Chamber also has an evening series, but Wagner said she feels like the time of the breakfast series, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., is more accessible for small businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Wagner had some questions herself when she visited her own bank. She said, \u201cWell, a lot of places are, you\u2019re finding it more prevalently. I was at an ATM the other day and saw an option for bitcoin, and I\u2019m like \u2018wait a minute. How does that work on an ATM with my debit card?\u2019 So there\u2019s just a lot of questions, we\u2019re seeing more prevalence of it. So we want folks to be informed about it.\u201d She is happy to be back in person and being able to network with others face-to-face again.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Anyone is able to come to these topic conversations if interested, it is not just for members.
