This week\u2019s guest on the <\/span>Cardano SPO Column <\/b>is a stake pool that is<\/span> working on ALDEA, a DAO for spanish speakers<\/b>: <\/span>Falcon Stakepool [FALCO]<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Last week\u2019s guest<\/span><\/a> was a stake pool operated by<\/span> someone who has been in the crypto space since 2011.<\/b><\/p>\n This initiative is a point of reference for everything Cardano and every week or two we will invite a <\/span>Stake Pool Operator <\/b>(SPO) to answer some questions and give us an <\/span>update directly from within the Cardano community<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Considering that many of our readers are new to the crypto space<\/span>, <\/b>we will have a <\/span>mix of simple and technical questions<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n First of all thanks for this interview and for the interest shown in FALCO and the projects we are developing.<\/span> My name is Mat\u00edas and I\u2019m from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently I\u2019m based in Melbourne, Australia<\/b>. I am a <\/span>Senior Tech Lead and Backend Engineer <\/b>with 12+ years of experience in IT development and production support in the Banking Industry. I work as <\/span>Blockchain Engineer <\/b>for an Australian company, where I am responsible for researching, designing, implementing and supporting all blockchain-based solutions using mostly Algorand.<\/span><\/p>\n I am Founder & Operator of <\/span>Falcon Stakepool<\/b>, a pool that leads <\/span>many different initiatives in the Cardano space<\/b>, being <\/span>ALDEA <\/b>the main one<\/span>, as it <\/span>represents the values \u200b\u200bthat we want to encompass and aims to generate <\/span>greater participation by the Spanish-speaking community<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s been a long ride, for sure. At first<\/span> I got interested in blockchain technology around 2019<\/b>, and I decided I wanted to reorient my efforts into this industry.<\/span> I became an SPO in October 2020. <\/span>I learnt about Cardano after reading about Blockchain 3.0<\/b>, and got <\/span>captivated by the idea of building a <\/span>new financial system<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I immediately <\/span>fell for<\/span> its mission and wanted to do as much as possible to support the network. I found the perfect opportunity to do so by creating the <\/span>first Stake Pool 100% dedicated to promoting the adoption of Blockchain, cryptocurrencies and sm<\/b>art contracts in Latin America.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Stake pool operation is a business itself, with its own complexity, and <\/span>my personal vision includes working on projects that raise awareness<\/b>. Like any small business \u2013 and that\u2019s what this is \u2013 it requires clear objectives, and goals that add value to the community.<\/span><\/p>\n I am actually working on <\/span>ALDEA<\/span><\/a>, a <\/span>DAO for Spanish speakers<\/b> to collaborate and solve local problems. <\/span>GameChanger<\/span><\/a>, which is in my opinion <\/span>the best wallet for developers, entrepreneurs, students <\/b>or anybody who wants to have a great user experience on the Web. I am also working on <\/span>MAYZ Protocol<\/span><\/a>: a <\/span>decentralised finance protocol<\/b> that aims to simplify the challenges of managing a well-diversified portfolio in a fast-evolving ecosystem and <\/span>bring Cardano exposure to a wide range of different investors<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n All these projects are 100% aligned with the mission and the vision of my pool, since they are <\/span>focused on solving real problems to help people, with a particular focus on Latin America<\/b>. <\/span>And, <\/span>as a recognition for all these contributions to the ecosystem, Falcon was <\/span>selected by IOG on its Delegation Strategy<\/b>, in May 2021, and in April 2022 we were selected again, this time by the <\/span>Cardano Foundation<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n However, <\/span>nothing can be achieved alone<\/b>: I had the chance to work with a great team of SPOs, such as MOXIE, QXT, CHIL, WHITE, <\/span>ONE1<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>TOPO<\/span><\/a>, APOLO, PEACE, TANGO and ITZA, to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n The adoption of blockchain and crypto in general I think is doing well in Latin America<\/b>. Without a doubt, the most active community there is Ethereum\u2019s. <\/span>Cardano is getting more traction but I think we won\u2019t see many use cases of its technology there until 2028<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This may seem a pessimistic vision but I think it is more of a realistic one, since it is very early for Cardano: <\/span>we are still defining the foundations of what we believe should be a much better and fairer system<\/b> for everybody willing to take part in it. This is why more projects like our pool are what we need to <\/span>raise awareness about everything that can be learned and achieved by using the Cardano network<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n As previously mentioned, I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to share some of our work, as these kinds of opportunities are <\/span>very important for small pools like mine<\/b>. We are fueled by content writers and we are <\/span>proud to use their words and our own vision to invite anyone interested to get involved<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It is important to mention that when you have a vision of this magnitude, you have to <\/span>establish objectives and understand the work around them<\/b>.
