Neal Stephenson, the \u201cSnow Crash\u201d author who coined the word \u201cMetaverse\u201d back in 1992, is helping launch a metaverse-focused blockchain project called Lamina1.<\/p>\n
The author\u2019s focus will be on \u201chelping get artists and other value creators paid properly for their work, helping the environment (LAMINA1 will be provably carbon negative), and seeing a truly Open Metaverse get built.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a change from Stephenson\u2019s original vision, outlined in the book \u201cSnow Crash.\u201d<\/p>\n Lamina1\u2019s team is not anonymous. Its core team includes recognised experts in their fields, which makes the project seem credible.
