May 23 (Renewables Now) – German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon GmbH has booked an order to supply its hardware for an 18.8-MW consumer-owned wind farm project in Scotland.<\/p>\n

The company said today that it has signed a turbine supply agreement with UK firm Ripple Energy to deliver and install eight E-92 turbines for the Kirk Hill project in Ayrshire, west Scotland. Wind farm installation is due to start later this year, while commissioning is seen in 2023\/2024.<\/p>\n

Enercon will also maintain the Kirk Hill turbines once they begin operation.<\/p>\n

Ripple Energy is a platform that offers consumers to purchase shares in large-scale wind projects. Once the wind farm starts generating electricity, citizen-investors, through Ripple\u2019s supply partners, can expect to see savings on their power bills.<\/p>\n

As Ripple explains, the firm manages the construction and other project phases, but does not own the wind farm. The ownership is in the hands of the co-op and co-investors.<\/p>\n

According to Ripple, Kirk Hill is fully sold out.<\/p>\n
