Momentum around Ethereum<\/a>, the largest altcoin has significantly increased or remained bullish of late thanks to the much-anticipated \u2018Merge<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

Last month, the Ethereum consensus layer deposit contract had surpassed<\/a> 10 million in ETH staked. This represented roughly 8% of the entire Ethereum supply. Fast forward to April end, stakers continue to uphold their bullish sentiment.<\/p>\n

Building up till June?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

According to Nansen, the current ETH consensus layer (ETH2.0) deposit contract balance has exceeded 12 million ETH. This accounted for more than 10% of the current circulation of Ethereum.<\/p>\n

There is now more than 12 million ETH in the consensus layer (formerly known as Ethereum 2.0) deposit contract, according to Etherscan<\/a>. In terms of USD, this amounted<\/a> to around $34 billion at press time. Moreover, the deposited ETH was contributed by 376,000 validators, each of whom put in at least 32 ETH.<\/p>\n

Why the rush? <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Well, the Beacon Chain<\/a> is a parallel-running Proof-of-Stake version of the Ethereum blockchain.\u00a0The Ethereum mainnet is slated to merge with the Beacon Chain in June, as specified by Ethereum Improvement Proposal 4345.<\/p>\n

Ether might enjoy a \u2018boost\u2019 in price, but gas fees wouldn\u2019t vanish. These fees would instead go to stakers rather than miners, after the Merge. Notably, for this reason, the best way to profit from the Merge is to become an Ethereum 2.0 staker. One can also profit by \u2018simply holding ETH.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, some delays<\/a> could hinder the growth as happened in the past. But investors might be ready for the same. For instance, Lark Davis<\/a>, a famed analyst in a 29 April tweet voiced his opinion regarding ETH.<\/p>\n

Having said that, ETH\u2019s price didn\u2019t quite showcase a similar enthusiasm. As per CoinMarketCap, the flagship coin suffered<\/a> a fresh 2% correction as it traded around the $2.8k mark.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
