Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson says Input Output (aka \u201cIOG\u201d, aka \u201cIOHK\u201d) has started preparing for future attacks on the Cardano network by quantum-powered adversaries.<\/p>\n
Quantum computing<\/a> is \u201ca type of computation that harnesses the collective properties of quantum states, such as superposition, interference, and entanglement, to perform calculations\u201d and \u201cthe devices that perform quantum computations are known as quantum computers.\u201d<\/p>\n As reported<\/a> by The Daily Hodl, in a recent video released on his YouTube channel on December 6, Hoskinson said the first step in the long process of making Cardano quantum-resistant was to run simulations to test Cardano\u2019s algorithms:<\/p>\n \u201cThe first thing you need to do is model the algorithms we have against the quantum adversary.<\/em> We have started that process, but that\u2019s not in scope for the deliverables in 2022.<\/em> However, the knowledge is there, the people are there and if it\u2019s a priority for the next five years of Cardano, it\u2019s something that can be done.<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n –><\/p>\n –><\/p>\n Hoskinsom, who believes that \u201cmath and science is not where it needs to be to have acceptable trade-offs\u201d, explained what the Cardano team should be doing now to prepare for the future:<\/p>\n \u201cIt makes more sense to model out all the theoretical properties you have to adhere to and improve the state of the art of mathematics so that we have better primitives to work with to actually ameliorate the issues of quantum computers and that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing and it\u2019s an academic exercise at the moment.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not a real problem today, it\u2019s not a concern.
