Ethereum\u00a0<\/strong>ETH\/USD<\/span> co-founder\u00a0Vitalik Buterin\u00a0<\/strong>has quietly donated $5 million worth of cryptocurrency to Ukraine.<\/p>\n What Happened:\u00a0<\/strong>According to an update from\u00a0Aid For Ukraine\u00a0<\/strong>on Thursday, Buterin is said to have donated $2.5 million to\u00a0Aid For Ukraine<\/strong>\u00a0and another $2.5 million to the\u00a0Unchain Fund<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n Aid For Ukraine is a joint initiative by the Ukrainian government, crypto exchange\u00a0FTX<\/strong>, decentralized staking prover\u00a0Everstake,\u00a0<\/strong>and Ukrainian crypto exchange\u00a0Kuna.<\/strong><\/p>\n
The Unchain Fund is a charity initiative started by the blockchain community to provide humanitarian relief to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Buterin did not disclose his contribution, despite the considerably large sum donated which was only linked back to him because on-chain data revealed his wallet address and ENS domain name \u201cvitalik.eth.\u201d<\/p>\n Russia-born Buterin has been a vocal critic of the invasion of Ukraine. In February, he\u00a0publicly opposed<\/a>\u00a0Vladimir Putin\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0decision to attack Ukraine and called it a \u201ccrime against Ukrainian and Russian people.\u201d<\/p>\n “I couldn’t be more grateful for every crypto donation to our lifesaving initiative, Aid for Ukraine.
