{"id":12815,"date":"2022-04-05T00:09:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T00:09:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=12815"},"modified":"2022-04-05T00:09:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T00:09:30","slug":"metamask-update-allows-apple-pay-users-to-buy-crypto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egrowonline.com\/?p=12815","title":{"rendered":"MetaMask Update Allows Apple Pay Users to Buy Crypto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies just got a boost.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/how-to-use-metamask\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MetaMask<\/a> has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetaMask\/status\/1508580273868353537\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that the popular crypto wallet will now support direct digital asset purchases with debit and credit cards by way of Apple Pay.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One upshot of the feature is that users will be able to directly seed their crypto wallets with digital assets, rather than having to go through centralized exchanges (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/dexs-vs-cexs\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEXs<\/a>) like Coinbase. CEXs are often seen as a grey area between decentralization and centralization \u2014 they are on-ramps to a decentralized economy but their servers are centrally owned just like any traditional company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MetaMask is arguably more decentralized than traditional CEXs \u2014 Joseph Lubin, the co-founder of Consensys, which develops the wallet, has gone <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/consensys-metamask-token\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on record<\/a> saying that MetaMask will \u201cprogressively decentralize.\u201d With the new Apple Pay feature, users will be able to enter the crypto ecosystem further on the decentralization side of the spectrum.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<p class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9 post-embed\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to be safer and smarter using Metamask\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/glDkTa9WEy8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>MetaMask has 30M monthly active users <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ConsenSys\/status\/1503748090720833548\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as of January<\/a>. That\u2019s six times more than the wallet had last April, when Consensys <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/consensys.net\/blog\/metamask\/metamask-surpasses-5-million-monthly-active-users\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">celebrated<\/a> the milestone of 5M monthly active users.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the new Apple Pay feature, along with a dark mode which was also <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetaMask\/status\/1508580464205856769\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> as part of the wallet\u2019s upgrade, MetaMask\u2019s developers are doubtless looking to scale their user base to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been widely reported that users will be able to purchase a maximum of $400 worth of crypto per day, but Wyre, a payments API company that MetaMask is using for the Apple Pay integration, lists a $500 daily maximum in their <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.sendwyre.com\/docs\/wyre-checkout-1#transaction-processing-limits\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">documentation.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Regardless, it\u2019s never been easier to introduce new users to crypto.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cardanofeed.com\/metamask-update-allows-apple-pay-users-to-buy-crypto-64145.html\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies just got a boost.
