American developer Charles Hoskinson is saying that his team is now preparing Cardano (ADA) for the era of quantum computing.<\/p>\n
Quantum computers are anticipated to provide the answers to problems that cannot be solved by the classical computers used today, but some fear that quantum computing could threaten the crypto industry.<\/p>\n
In a new YouTube video, Hoskinson tells his 288,000 subscribers that work is now underway to make ADA<\/a> immune from quantum attacks.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first thing you need to do is model the algorithms we have against the quantum adversary. <\/em><\/p>\n We have started that process, but that\u2019s not in scope for the deliverables in 2022. <\/em><\/p>\n However, the knowledge is there, the people are there and if it\u2019s a priority for the next five years of Cardano, it\u2019s something that can be done.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Hoskinson says they are not making Cardano quantum attack resistant sooner because of the significant trade-offs.<\/p>\n \u201cWe came to the conclusion that the math and science is not where it needs to be to have acceptable trade-offs. <\/em><\/p>\n You don\u2019t want a system where, by adopting something to protect you from something 10 or 20 years in the future, you have to pay a price today.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Because quantum computers do not yet exist, the Cardano creator says that the threats of quantum computing are not yet a real problem today.<\/p>\n \u201cIt makes more sense to model out all the theoretical properties you have to adhere to and improve the state of the art of mathematics so that we have better primitives to work with to actually ameliorate the issues of quantum computers and that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing and it\u2019s an academic exercise at the moment.<\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s not a real problem today, it\u2019s not a concern.
